Our Centenary Launch Party

All 3 Guide units from Taverham District got together today to celebrate the start of Girlguiding UK's Centenary.

We held an outdoor cooking challenge, where the girls cooked a 3 course meal, on the menu was :-

Mini pizzas, tuna tomatoes, chicken & vegetable wraps, chocolate bananas, apple surprise, choc chip cookies and smores.

Of course our ducks helped in the preparation of the food as you can see :-

Welcome to 2nd Taverham Guide's Centenary Ducky Diaries

Hi my name is Caroline and I am one of the leaders at 2nd Taverham Guides in Norwich, England and along with Margaret, Claire & Nicola we get together every Thursday in term time with 24 Guides & Amy who is our Young Leader.

September 2009 - 2010 Girlguiding UK will be celebrating their centenary - yes 100 years old !!!

However 2nd Taverham Guide unit isn't 100 years old - we were formed on 29th April 1976, so that makes us 33 - but in the spirit of things we are going to be celebrating the Centenary with great enthusiasm.

Lots of Centenary merchandise has been produced, but the thing that caught my eye were the Centenary ducks.  They seem very popular and even have their own Facebook page.

We decided as a unit that we would each get a duck to keep and take with us everywhere we go during the year and blog their adventures on here.

I went to London at the end of August and visited the Guide shop to purchase our ducks - but they didn't have enough for all of us, so I bought just 3 so I had enough for our Centenary Launch party on September 5th.

So here are my ducks in London - at Westminster Abbey, Trafalger Square and the Houses of Parliament.

And then we travelled to Hartlepool to watch Norwich City play football - it was a lovely hot day made all the better by Norwich securing an away win !
